Norris “Raymond” Long, born August 29, 1935, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on November 16, 2015 with all of his loving family and friends by his side. In his early years he served time with the U.S. Army, following the military he worked in construction, and was a subcontractor. Raymond enjoyed working in his wood shop, and in his garden. He loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 50 years, Jessie Alma Long; parents, John and Rosa Long; brother, Jay Long; sister, Dolly Mac Long; nephew, Sam “Junior” Bailey; and great nephew, Larry “Cheech” Smith Jr.
Raymond is survived by his daughters, Debbie Roysden, Teresa Russell, and Lisa Wilshire all of Clinton, TN and Kay Bailey of Norris, TN; sons, Peanut Long, Bryan “Bones” Long, and John Long all of Clinton, TN, Jackie Long of Harriman, TN; sisters, Shelby Sexton of Caryville, TN, and Glenna Weaver of Bellvue, OH. He also leaves behind 20 grandkids, 29 great grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.
Raymond’s grandsons will be his pallbearers.
Raymond’s family will receive his friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 with his funeral service following at 8:00 pm in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. R.C. Lemie officiating. Raymond’s interment will be Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton, TN with full military honors.
