Margaret Lea Pyles Wallace born Sept. 13, 1933 in Andersonville, TN, died June 11, 2016 at Tennova Hospice in Knoxville after a brief stay. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Lea Wilson; husband, Lawrence Pyles; son, Terry Pyles and brother, Robert A. Lea.
After getting married to Lawrence Pyles, they moved to Kokomo, IN and lived several years before they returned to TN. Margaret loved life, her birthday, music, Halloween, giving out candy and eating candy. She was a very hard working lady and was always helping others. Over the years, seventeen family members lived with them. She worked very hard taking care of five churches and babysitting. After her husband Lawrence passed away, she married Francis Wallace. Margaret and Francis enjoyed traveling before her illness prevented her from doing so. They loved people to come by for coffee, candy, and laughs. In 2005 she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Francis took care of her, and she was doing very well until last year when her health started to decline. Margaret was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Francis Wallace, Clinton; daughter, Gloria Walling (Eddie) McMinnville, TN; son, Larry Pyles (Barbara) Gallatin, TN; grandsons, Jason Baker, McMinnville, TN, Kevin Pyles, Oakdale, TN, Christopher Pyles, Gallatin, TN and Brandon Pyles, Ohio; granddaughters, Tiffany Rose (Shane) Andersonville, TN, Bridgette Clark (Tyler Treadway) Westel TN, and Paige Pyles, Ohio; special step daughter, Lou Richardson, Clinton; step son, Frank Wallace, Luttrell and step granddaughter, Jennifer Lane (Rodney) Andersonville; brothers, William Lea (Mabel) Kokomo, IN, Nathan Benscoter Sedalia, MO; sister, Judy Purkey (Walter) Clinton, TN; sister in law, Edna Lea, Houstonia, MO; uncle, Rev. George Gilbert (Joyce) Knoxville, TN as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Sam Lea, Kevin Pyles, Frank Wallace, Eddie Walling, Shane Rose, Joe Moore and honorary pallbearer, Christopher Pyles.
Margaret’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 2pm at Red Hill Baptist Church in Andersonville, TN with Rev. Donnie Disney and Rev. Larry Noe officiating and Sam Lea speaking. Margaret will lie in state at the church for 1 hour prior to her funeral service. Margaret’s interment will immediately follow the funeral service in the Church cemetery.
