James Moore of Norris, TN passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on November 12, 2016. James was born on June 13, 1936 in Shelbyville, TN and spent his younger years working on his parents’ farm. Later he went on to work for TVA and then LaFollette Utility Board from which he retired after many years. His work brought him to East TN where he met and married Doris (Kay) Moore. Together they raised their family while enjoying their lives to the fullest, often exploring Norris Lake, traveling, camping and four wheeling. James also spent time woodworking and building various things to make people’s lives easier and more enjoyable. Caring and a hard worker, he was always ready to lend his knowledge and a helping hand to anyone who needed it. James is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Ola Moore; infant daughter, Paula Gail Moore; mother – in – law, Fay Carter and a host of other family members and friends.
James is survived by his wife of many years Doris Kay Moore; daughter, Shelia Hohman and husband Michael Hohman; granddaughter, Wendy Babb; great grandsons, Riley and Jake Babb all of Clinton, TN. He is also survived by his sisters, Fanny Pinkston, Dorothy Buckman, and Mai Forrester.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt expression of gratitude to all the family, friends, and special caregivers who have supported us during James’s illness. We are sincerely grateful for all the thoughts, prayers, support and help that you have provided our family.
James’s family will receive his friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN with his funeral service immediately following at 7:00pm in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Kenneth (Kenny) Bevill and Bo Bailey officiating. James’s interment will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN.
