Ancil Mack Arthur, born Nov. 12, 1937, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the age of 75. He was a life long resident of Anderson County, being a graduate of Clinton High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired welder out of Local union 538 in Johnson City, Tn. Mr. Arthur was a faithful member of North Clinton Baptist Church. When he was younger he loved raising cattle and as he aged he enjoyed raising flowers. Ancil was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Edna L. (Overton) Arthur; brothers, infant Joe Edward Arthur, William E. Arthur, Edsel Arthur, and Robert Arthur; sisters, Josephine Scarlet, Johnnie L. Badia, and Mary Dean Farmer.
Ancil is survived by his brother, John L. Arthur of Clinton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and two special cousins' Gladys Widener and Jane Lane. Mr. Arthur's family would like to thank Thompson Oncology Center in Oak Ridge, North Clinton Baptist Church and all the members who helped in their time of need. There were so many special people that helped during his sickness all the names could not be mentioned, but his family could not show enough gratitude to them, but want them to know it will not be forgotten. Mr. Arthur ask that the following be stated: (I am persuaded that he (Christ Jesus) is able to keep that (everything) which I have committed unto him against that day.
Ancil's family will hold a memorial service for him on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at North Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton, TN at 2:00pm. Jones Mortuary was given the opportunity to work with this family at their time of need.
